What information is needed to select a control valve?

The information needed to know when you select a control valve


1. Characteristics of fluid to be controlled

- Type of Fluid (Gas, Water, Glycol, …)

- Temperature range of fluid


2. Flow rate

3. Pressure drop, System pressure rating

4. Valve port configuration (2 way, 3 way mixing, 3 way diverting)

5. Valve type (Ball valve, Globe valve, Butterfly valve)

6. Control Signal: On/Off, Floating, Proportional, or other

- If On/Off, what is the voltage (24V,110V, 230V or other)

- If Proportional what is the control signal input (2-10VDC, 0-10VDC, or other)

7. Fail safe on power loss, Auxiliary Switch requirement
